Historical Nizwa and Wadi Adventure
Itinerary:
Day 1: Welcome to Oman! Your guide will welcome you at Muscat International Airport and transfer you to your hotel in either Muscat or Nizwa depending on your arrival time.
Day 2: We start by exploring the old capital of Oman, Nizwa. This ancient settlement showcases Omani culture and history. On Fridays you can experience the excitement of the local goat market where locals from the nearby villages come to sell their livestock. We then venture into Nizwa Fort which dates back to the Yaruba dynasty in the 1650s. With spectacular views and cultural displays, you can understand why this is the most visited monument in Oman. Nizwa Souq is also close by and provides an opportunity to pick up some locally made handicrafts and souvenirs.
Our next stop is the viewpoint for Jebel Shams (Sun Mountain), Oman’s highest peak (3009m) and Oman’s Grand Canyon. This off-road adventure provides unparalleled views of the Al Hamra region.
We then make our way down the mountain to explore the narrow streets, traditional houses, and irrigation systems in the picturesque village of Misfat Al Abriyeen. There is also the opportunity to visit the living museum of Bait Al Safah to gain a further glimpse into life as it was in Oman.
After an action-packed day, we drop off at your hotel to rest and relax (camping is also an option here).
Day 3: After breakfast we travel to the beautiful Wadi Shab. A short boat trip across the river leads to a trail through local plantations and into a stunning canyon where you can swim in the turquoise pools. The more adventurous can swim into a cave where a secret waterfall awaits. Then heading back to Muscat there is the opportunity to visit Bimmah Sinkhole. A stunning natural swimming pool that makes a fantastic photo opportunity.
After lunch we return to Muscat where a city and souq tour can be offered if time allows.
After a captivating 3 days we say our goodbyes at Muscat International Airport.
Historical villages and Mountain Hike
Day 1: Welcome to Oman! Your guide will welcome you at Muscat International Airport and transfer you to your hotel in either Muscat or Nizwa depending on your arrival time.
Day 2: We start by exploring Nakal Fort. This ancient fortress was built in the 17th Century and is surrounded by palm plantations and the Hajar mountains. The fort houses a museum which showcases Omani culture and history. Our next stop is the viewpoint for Jebel Shams (Sun Mountain), Oman’s highest peak (3009m) and Oman’s Grand Canyon. This off-road adventure provides unparalleled views of the Al Hamra region.
After an action-packed day, we drop off at your hotel to rest and relax (camping is also an option here).
Day 3: Upon rising we descend into the canyon and hike along the amazing Balcony Walk. This is a moderate hike that passes by abandoned villages and hidden waterfalls providing spectacular photo opportunities.
After lunch we head to the foothills of the mountains to explore the narrow streets, traditional houses, and irrigation systems in the picturesque village of Misfat Al Abriyeen. There is also the opportunity to visit the living museum of Bait Al Safah to gain a further glimpse into life as it was in Oman.
Finally, we return to Muscat where a city and souq tour can be offered if time allows.
After a captivating 3 days we say our goodbyes at Muscat International Airport.
